Sir Griffin
Sir Griffin exhibits all the qualities of a knight of the realm: bravery, courtesy, honor, and gallantry. This
4 year old neutered, 48#, black tri is waiting to find his new castle and court.
He comes from a home where he was loved deeply. But, due to major life changes his family made the
excruciating decision to re-home him and has entrusted New Spirit with this responsibility.
Sir Griffin is enthusiastic about everything: so, there is a bit of pulling at the beginning of walks, a slow
feeder bowl and he is working on walking in and out of the house slowly. Counter surfing and taking
any opportunity to grab an extra snack are features of his high energy, zest for life personality.
His friendly personality and manners are just a couple of his assets. He rides great in the car and crates
overnight – his crate, bed, and dish come with him. As he is food motivated and enthusiastic about
everything, Sir Griffin will easily adapt to any home and activity.
He has lived with a female dog and 2 cats, though the cats did not appreciate his quest to relegate them
to the basement. Sir Griffin wanted to play with the other dog, but she was not interested.
Ideal home: Active person(s) with or without another dog. While ‘OK’ with cats, they may not
appreciate Sir Griffin’s attentions. He would love lots of snuggle and scratches, too. A fenced yard with
lots of play time and activities with his people are very important, otherwise he may take up an
unapproved quest to save the kingdom.
Updates will come as his foster gets to know him better.
Sir Griffin is fostered in Bristol/Canandaigua, NY

Bayley

At 4-years old and 20 pounds, with blue merle coloring and bright blue eyes, Bayley is a perfect Miniature Australian Shepherd. She has her fair share of classic Aussie reserve which is always quickly followed-up with whole-body cuddles.
Bayley was raised with cats and small children. She is good with the dog-savvy cats and new chicks in her foster home. She was the only dog in her home but has adapted well to the pack in her foster home. She is naturally deferential with older, smaller and alpha dogs. She runs with the pack but would be happy as an only dog. She gets the zoomies and can jump like she’s built of springs! However during the day she is quiet while her foster mom works from home. Bayley has subtle cues for her need to go outside, so keeping her close by is a good idea. And Bayley loves to be close by! She can be considered a velcro Aussie and is quite content to be in constant touching-distance of her human. Bayley has met all types of people during her time in foster care. She reacts normally; a few barks for new people and then she’s asking for cuddles.
A leash is a new thing to Bayley and she’s a bit unsure of it. She has a natural tendency to stay right beside her people so she doesn’t pull on the leash. She’s shown no inclination to run off when on walks or in the driveway. Bayley is talkative to other dogs when running or sharing a person’s affection. Bayley is not spayed. She is scheduled for spay at her foster’s vet. She’s otherwise up-to-date with vaccinations.
Bayley is fostered in Eastern CT.

Mr. Ernie

Mr. Ernie is a male red tricolored Aussie approximately 4 years old and around 35 pounds who is learning what life is all about! He lived with 6 other dogs in an outdoor pen with little human interaction, so everything has been new for him! Mr. Ernie has come a LONG way in the time he has been with us.
He is housebroken and medium energy. Mr. Ernie will be slow to trust and warm up to a person but is now ready and able to form a lasting attachment to a person. While initially, he may avoid human interaction, once he feels safe he will start to open up and interact more, asking for affection during quiet moments.
He interacts well with other dogs and ignores all cats. He plays exceptionally well with the one resident dog, playing chase and wrestling!
He feels most comfortable outside and around other dogs. Due to his past he will do best in a home with a secure fenced in yard and at least one other playful doggie companion.
He is quiet and shy but has been learning that people are kind and can be givers of great treats and cuddles. He has improved on the leash but for the first 20 minutes or so of a walk he is still back and forth and all over the place but he does settle into the walk and will walk decently well by my side. It is like he has to get all his nervous energy out! He has gone on adventures to parks and stores and is being exposed to new things. He crates well and will sleep through the night but prefers now to be close to people, so he is left uncrated in our room now that we know he is trustworthy.
This little guy might take a little longer to integrate into a new household and adjust to new humans than a dog from a more conventional background, but he is definitely worth it! Overall he is a really sweet well behaved little guy!
